How Much Does a Website Cost in Europe? Transparent Pricing for 2026

Koliko košta izrada web sajta u Srbiji? Transparentno sa cenama za 2026. godine

You typed “how much does a website cost” into Google and got answers ranging from “free with Wix” to “contact us for a quote.”
Neither one actually helped you, did it?

We understand. We went through the same thing when we were starting BoldizArt, and since then we’ve spoken with hundreds of entrepreneurs who had the same problem. They couldn’t find a concrete answer to a simple question.

That’s why in this post we’ll be completely transparent and tell you exactly how much a website costs in Serbia, what you get for that money, and where the traps are that most entrepreneurs fall into.

Why is “how much does a website cost” such a hard question?

Imagine asking “how much does a car cost?” The answer depends on whether you need a beat-up old hatchback to get to the market or a BMW 7 Series for business meetings.
The same logic applies to websites.

The price depends on several key factors:

  • Who builds the website (freelancer, junior, experienced agency, foreign agency)
  • What exactly is included (just code, or also design, copy, SEO, hosting…)
  • How many pages and features the site needs
  • Whether you need a web shop, booking system, user accounts…
  • How quickly you need everything

Now that you know what affects the price, let’s go through the concrete options on the European market.

Option 1: Free and cheap builders (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress.com)

Price: €0 – €30/month

It sounds tempting. And it can genuinely be a good option — but only if you’re just starting your business or testing an idea and aren’t sure yet whether what you’re planning will actually take off.

If you already have revenue, clients, and a serious plan, this is not an option for you. Here’s why:

  • The site loads slowly (you lose clients who won’t wait)
  • You have no control over SEO (Google won’t like you)
  • You look like someone who isn’t ready for a serious business
  • When your business grows you’ll have to replace the whole system, which means losing both the money and time you invested

Option 2: Student or junior freelancer

Price: 200 600

This can go well. It can also go catastrophically.
The difference comes down to luck, not a system.

Junior freelancers are great for simple projects, but the problem usually starts when the site is live but nobody can find it on Google.
The design looks “nice” but doesn’t sell.
Or the developer “disappears” after delivery and you have no one to ask for changes – often all done informally, without a contract.

If you do go this route, make sure to check whether they have a portfolio with real projects, whether previous clients are satisfied, and whether they actually understand SEO and conversion - not just code.

Option 3: Experienced freelancer or smaller web design agency in Europe

Price: €800 – €2,500

This is the sweet spot for most serious small businesses.

You get experience and accountability, at a price that’s realistic for the local market.

Prices vary here because some agencies offer only design and development, while others – as we do at BoldizArt – offer a complete service: design, development, sales copy, SEO, hosting, training, and post-delivery support.

What you concretely get from us in this price range:

Our Business Website starts from €1,800 and includes a unique design tailored to your brand, sales copy written specifically for your business, technical SEO optimization, mobile version, Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel integration, a privacy policy, GDPR banner, sitemap, Google submission, and website training. Payment is available in 12 monthly installments, which works out to around €180 per month.

If you also need a complete visual identity alongside the website – logo, colors, brand book, social media visuals – that’s covered by our Branding Package starting from €2,500.

For businesses that need a web shop with payment integration, IPS QR code, and optimization for the domestic market, there’s our Web Shop starting from €2,700 (on installments, around €270 per month).

Option 4: Larger domestic web design agency

Price: €3,000 – €8,000+

Larger agencies have more people, more processes, and as a rule, higher overhead costs. That gets reflected in the price. It doesn’t necessarily mean the website is better — just that the costs are higher.

For small and medium-sized businesses this rarely makes sense, unless you have a specific complex project that requires a larger team.

Option 5: Foreign agency or developer

Price: €5,000 – €20,000+

If you’re working with someone from Western Europe or the US, prices are dramatically higher.
Not because the quality is necessarily better, but because of the cost of living there.

This level is mostly where SaaS platforms, web applications, and larger e-commerce projects operate.

What to watch out for when choosing who builds your website

This part might be more important than the price itself.

A portfolio with real projects. Anyone can build a “demo site” for a fictional client. Ask for the contact details of previous clients and check whether the sites are actually live and functional.

SEO from day one. A website that can’t be found on Google is like a shop with no sign. Always ask whether SEO optimization is included in the price and exactly what it covers.

What happens after delivery. Who holds the hosting? Who makes changes? Who do you call when something breaks? These are questions most entrepreneurs forget to ask — and then regret it.

Transparency about ownership. The domain must be yours, not the agency’s. If the agency holds your domain, they can at any point hold you hostage for an extra fee or leave you without a website. Always insist on this.

A contract and an invoice. Without a contract, there are technically no agreed obligations on either side. Without an invoice, you have no legal protection. A serious agency takes this for granted; freelancers rarely do.

How much does a website that doesn’t work actually cost?

Here’s a calculation most entrepreneurs never make:

If your business can bring in just one extra client per month because of a good website, and that average client is worth €500 to you, the website pays for itself in 3–4 months. After that, every month is pure gain.

A cheaper website that does nothing doesn’t cost “a little money.” It costs you every client you lost because they couldn’t find your business – or because they found it but weren’t convinced.

Conclusion: what’s the right solution for you?

If you’re just testing an idea or planning to launch a business, start with a free solution.

If you have a business that’s already running but you’re missing an online presence, an experienced freelancer or smaller agency in the €1,500–€3,000 range is a realistic and smart investment.

If you want a website that works as a 24/7 salesperson, shows up on Google, and that you can even update yourself without needing the agency — that’s exactly what we do.
